As we roll into spring 2012, here’s the latest in our Local Film Series that features and promotes small, independent, non-commerical ski flicks. Why spend piles of dollars to go see a glorified commercial when there’s “flickering-light-stoke” that’s not trying to sell you anything, and which is available free from the comfort of your office chair?

In this entry, friend of FIS, Matt Bruhns, takes us on a mostly-POV tour of shredding pow in Vermont.

Incidentally Matt is also entering this video in Stowe’s East Coast Supershoot (which you may recall, FIS won last year). So “like” his video on YouTube, and help him win fame and glory!

Unfortunately, voting ended at 5pm EST on April 22nd, so any ‘likes’ after that are void…but cool vid!

For a while I didn’t either, but when boarders started getting face shots on film I was like: “oh……um…..ok……wow……I get it”

I still think its a bit silly for skiers because all I can think about is how awkward it must be to ski with a pole in the air…but for now I’m giving boarders a stamp of approval for the pole cam.

POV is definitely a compromise across the board (no pun intended). Helmet cams on snowboarders are meh too IMHO, as standing sideways facing down the fall line translates into too much camera movement. The edit was meant for a POV contest though….

and that’s the key point here… I probably didn’t do a good enough job emphasizing that in the original post… this is specifically for a POV contest.

I truly think this is one of the best EC POV-centric edits I’ve seen in a long time. Great fun, and good spots for the POV. Also bonus points for the timelapse feature on the GoPro IMO…

Very nice vid. Was well edited, eventhough I am not a boarder (strickly 2planks) it was very interesting. Haven’t been to the big B in sometime. Since I was in high school. Many moons ago. Looked pretty soft. And a good time was had by all. (that’s what’s important!!)
