It Could Be A Lot Worse

No, the snow wasn’t great today as December Dawns on the East Coast, and like much of what you stare at on TMZ, it wasn’t natural.
un-natural

Nor was the gnar anywhere to be found.
no gnar

But guess what: Who Cares? Certainly not this girl:
who cares?

Sometimes we all (esp. city dwelling dad) get lost in the quest for the “big line” and the deepest powder and forget that skiing is supposed to be fun; sometimes you just need to dust off the telemark gear and have fun being bad at something.
Greg tries telemark skiing

Thus we need days like today, where we take piste laps on icy bumpy snow under a cobalt sky above a stunning undercast lit by a late autumn sun to remind us, that hey–get over it–it could be a lot worse!
it could be a lot worse!

A LOT worse… enjoy!
it could be a lot worse!

I think it’s cool to see FIS skiing at Stowe (you know, I mean the front). And how often have snowguns appeared on pages of FIS? We should make some (tele) turns together, I might keep up! Great pics as always.

Agreed. Thanks for the beautiful photos and let’s count our blessings. I’m going to go shred some manmade in the sun now – later!

Beautiful pictures and they do a great job reminding us of that simple equation:
    Skiing >>> No Skiing

And it’s most obvious at this time of year. I’ve enjoyed every bit of the skiing I’ve done this year. And some of it you might call mud surfing.

Thanks Talbert!!! Bummed we missed u and the Altmanator on Saturday! Hopefully we can coordinate soon. FYI we usually go for first chair on piste-weekends (“pistends,” if you will), and then are outta there pretty early…

Beautiful photos! At least you have some snow, in Europe the snow has yet to arrive :( But we cross our fingers and hope that it will come soon!

Nice piece & great pics! Your right – trail skiing beats no skiing, especially before pinball skiin’ starts with the crowd’s arrival. Your above the clouds shots are gorgeous, those clouds certainly soften the early season view. I was bummed on Sunday to find nothing white about the Whites – just grey and brown everywhere, even MW.
