Sleeper Day

Wow. Yesterday on the rockpile (Mount Washington, NH) was incredible. I wish they could all be like that. A real “sleeper” day, in the sense that most everyone stayed asleep fearing the worst, and we went up EXPECTING the worst, but were greatly rewarded. To our collective chagrin, we found unbelievable snow ranging from corn to chalk to honest-to-god powder in the recent-lee and/or solar gain areas.

    I was actually thinking about that yesterday, “Either the big hill was going to be one solid block of ice, or someone is going to come back with one of those sleeper day stories!” Glad you guys were able to get after it!

      We really went in expecting lots of practice skiing/self arresting down icy slopes… I’ll take those kinds of surprises every trip!

    Looking forward to these pics! Heard from Austin that you guys had a pretty good day up there… I was up at Cannon and I’d say conditions were maybe something close to what you experienced between the nice powder?? Ice anyone? lol never got warm enough to soften up really… I feel bad for those who went pond skimming and fell in!
