The Starting Points for Adventure series gives your outdoor-imagination a kick in the butt, and gets you on the fast-track to adventures. Approximately every week we provide a few pictures and clues of a great location a bit off the beaten path. We challenge you to read carefully, put your thinking cap on, go out into the wild, and find the location. Report back about your findings in the comments below, but please don't give it away for someone who has yet to figure it out. Of course, if you find something even cooler during your travels don't hesitate to challenge us! If you find something really awesome, and think it's worthy of being included in the SPA Trip series send us an email!

Greg started the SPA series off with a classic NH waltz.  Out west we’re going to do the same.  A walk close to the edge with exceptional valley vistas.  Still healing after my busted incident, this is a great warm up hike, as you can ascend as high as you want.

If you’ve ever been to Salt Lake, you’ll know this one immediately, but still — it’s the greatest spot in the valley to catch an after work sunset.  With out further kerfuffle here is what you might see towards the late evening from the valley’s prime vantage point.

We watched as the tower brought them in hot

Descending before darkness, we were privy to an evening shower and a look back at our pertch.

Until next week.

Porter … some how I MISSED the fact that you were on the DL when I read BUSTED. Glad to hear things are improving. By the way I think it’s BAD JUJU to have a TAG for “broken medial malleouls.” ;)

    Oh yea … nice pics!

Harvey — No worries. Ankles getting better. I’ve been off crutches about a week, and am recuperating pretty well. I’m willing to take the chance on the keyword.

Appreciate the kind picture words as well.

ya, nice view. pardon moi for playing the guessing game. i just got excited when i saw the view :)

hows that ankle healing? did that happen on gods lawn mower or the vicinity?

amazing how much snow needs to fall to cover all of the crap in so many areas.

    best,

It’s the middle location of the three you mentioned. I’m sure you know the one.

Ankle is healing well. Some hardware in there. I’m off crutches, and out of the boot for good next week. Hope to be normalish in about a month. Lots of PT.

I was in argenta. Lots of 100in high stumps in there. The trees break off at 100 because the paths only slide when there is plus 100 in base. Hard to think about that enough until after you break an ankle in April and have to figure out why.

I’ll be back to prime time soon!

was up playing in the tollcat once. nice way to spend time in the afternoon sun.

never skied in the argenta area. always above, below, or across the street coming from pow park, the ice cream cone, or reynolds. mmmmmm reynolds, that hill gives an amazingly long ride after a storm and before the sun comes out for more than 2 seconds. steep skinner tho, not a big fan of steep skinners.

glad to hear yer on the mend. you’ll be back stronger and fresher.
