WARNING!

This blog just got exceptionally radder. The FIS may have bagged a FD (first descent) today. Well, in reality probably not… but for a few minutes until we hear from the old dudes saying as usual “if it can be seen it has been skied” we’ll continue to be optimistic. Unfortunately though, if the line in fact hasn’t been skied, it’s not really because of gnar factor but because of silly factor. Nevertheless it photographed well; here’s Ben following in the photographer’s ski tracks (bwa-haha!)–although with decidedly better style.

    ….wait wait hold the presses: rumor has it that Shotgun McGee did that exact line in 1896 with whiskey barrel staves sturdily tied to his prospector’s boots with lengths of hemp twine. He was drunk and half-mad with the consumption, but lost a wager and had to either ‘ski’ the line or get shot full o’ lead. But, sadly his frontier exploits were undocumented.

      Definitely a VT turbacker… in the sense of the Trifecta’s VT.

      Incidentally it was also a VT TURTLEbacker :D
